JACKSON, Miss. — The Governor's Job Fair Network of Mississippi held a job fair with a focus on those re-entering the workforce.

Cars lined up Wednesday at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds for the drive-thru job fair that focused on a particular group.

"If you are looking for a job, you are probably in the best place you can be to find employment, than you may have been in years passed," said Adam Todd, director of the Governor's Job Fair Network.

Todd said that while the job fair was open to the public, the target is those seeking a second chance.

"To try to help those individuals who are coming back into our society that have spent time in incarceration, for whatever may have happened in their past, to really try to get them back in the workforce and help fight recidivism," Todd said.

Nearly 30 businesses were lined up eager to take resumes and hear from potential employees. Todd said the job fair had a diverse range of jobs people could apply for.

"We have everything from healthcare to manufacturing, a lot of factory line positions," Todd said.

As businesses resume operations following the pandemic, many at the job fair said they are eager to gain employees and welcome anyone to their team.

"There is a need for workers. There are a lot of businesses that need employees right now," Todd said.

"We're out here hiring every day all day, so there's no limits," said Shone Young, human resources supervisor with DG Foods.

Those looking for a job can go to jobfairs.ms.gov to find open positions.
